A very packed first day at Cocha Cashu. We adventured on the trails that morning and did some species identification and exploring. A couple of brave souls took their first jump in the lake. Some of us went out looking for caimans after dinner, and the rest of us trekked back out to the beach to watch the moonrise. I have never seen the Milky Way like this before. And happy birthday to Bea, Tim, and Beyonce! Hollaaa.
You're looking at animal crackers and chocolate sauce.
Hey buddy!
Do they sell this here? This jam needs to be back in my life.
Jessica always finds the best bugs! The farther away one is a cicada shell, but I'm not sure what the one in the foreground is.
SPIDER MONKEYS. Like, lots of them.
Caimans, piranhas, and sharp rocks, just to name a few..
This library had a surprisingly wonderful collection of literature. JRR Tolkien, Shakespeare, and others I can't remember.
Market assignment presentations. We probably shouldn't have waited this long to do them. This is a potato... I think?
Cake?
CAKE!
LET'S GO ON THE LAKE WHEN IT'S PITCH BLACK IN A CANOE TO FEED FISH TO THE CAIMANS. OKAY.
Before our group walked out to the beach, Cesar the station director, gave us a speech about staying together when we are walking because jaguars like to pick out the stragglers in a group. The person walking first has to make sure they can differentiate between dead branches and snakes. The people in the middle have to make sure they're quiet. The last person has to make sure they keep up. He was probably trying to scare us. And it worked.
