A very packed first day at Cocha Cashu. We adventured on the trails that morning and did some species identification and exploring. A couple of brave souls took their first jump in the lake. Some of us went out looking for caimans after dinner, and the rest of us trekked back out to the beach to watch the moonrise. I have never seen the Milky Way like this before. And happy birthday to Bea, Tim, and Beyonce! Hollaaa.

Before our group walked out to the beach, Cesar the station director, gave us a speech about staying together when we are walking because jaguars like to pick out the stragglers in a group. The person walking first has to make sure they can differentiate between dead branches and snakes. The people in the middle have to make sure they're quiet. The last person has to make sure they keep up. He was probably trying to scare us. And it worked.
