'It's counterintuitive to think that if you took them out, it would somehow help things,' he said, 'but eventually, I think, the world is coming to that conclusion. Maybe five years, 10 years from now, it won't seem like such a weird idea.'"

I have mixed feelings about this one. Being in Vancouver B.C. a couple of weeks ago gave me some experience with a freeway system that went around the city instead of cutting through the middle of it (like many highways here in the U.S.). Finding on-ramps to get to the interstate in Vancouver was frustratingly difficult, granted we were driving at night in a strange city, and it may have given me the wrong first impression about this idea of a freeway-less future. Vancouver is one of the most walkable and bikeable cities in North America, and when I think about future places where I would like to live, a walkable and bikeable city is definitely something I would look for.
