46. Secret (Urban) Garden

I didn't know what to expect visiting the privately owned public space that was on the 4th and Madison building downtown. Getting there was half the story. Let's just say I ran into some problems with going into places where I was not allowed... but I blame it on them because signage was poor, virtually nonexistent. Every door looks the same when you don't have signage. Do you want me to be here? Do you not want me to be here? This IS a PUBLIC space, right?

One thing was for sure: this is a beautiful space. Look up, out, down, or around, and you will find something that holds your gaze. I might just also be obsessed with cities. And people. And beautiful things.

  1. Radical urban exploration! Try going to the Rainier Tower's plaza! On the inside upper level of its mall, you can walk out to an open area complete with benches and a closeup view of Minoru Yamasaki's 'gothic' arches.

I really like the grid on the last picture. It reminds me of how the windows of Time Warner Center reflect Columbus Circle in New York City.
