This was the day I get to shoot football. The day I have been waiting for since I began working at The Daily. To say I was excited is an understatement.
The game was UW vs. Utah. The location was CenturyLink Field. The temperature was freezing.
From the press box.
"God I love CenturyLink field."
Here we go...
This was also Ben's first time shooting football. Kids in a candy store.
!!!
Talk about intimidating..
"Stoked."
Hi Keith Price. I think I love you.
Alright, now to the actual game.. These are sort of in no particular order because I simply can't remember.
Too many memory cards and too many switching of cameras. That's something I definitely need to work on.
One of my favorites.
Another favorite.
TD. WHY FOCUS WHY. @%#$!!
I didn't know if I was shaking from the excitement, the cold, or the coffee. Just a straight adrenaline rush for a good 4 hours. We left the newsroom at 4:30 and I didn't get home until 2AM, but it all happened so quickly. I finally feel a little more comfortable using the 400mm now. It's slowly becoming less of an enemy and more like a best friend.
It's a completely different feeling when you're on the field. I was afraid I'd get too into the game and forget about shooting, but when you're out there with 3 cameras and surrounded by other photographers, everything sort of blurs out except for the action and all you want is to get the shot. And to be able to shoot with photographers who have been doing this for years from The Seattle Times and AP and who knows where else! I am not worthy!
I had no idea how big press is for these games. Maybe I just never really thought about it. Too bad it's the last home game though. Next yearrr.
