There's a lot going on here and none of it makes sense.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Being in Vancouver B.C. a couple of weeks ago gave me some experience with a freeway system that went around the city instead of cutting through the middle of it (like many highways here in the U.S.). Finding on-ramps to get to the interstate in Vancouver was frustratingly difficult, granted we were driving at night in a strange city, and it may have given me the wrong first impression about this idea of a freeway-less future. Vancouver is one of the most walkable and bikeable cities in North America, and when I think about future places where I would like to live, a walkable and bikeable city is definitely something I would look for.

"You forget this happens everyday," one of the people in our group said as we were watching the sun go down. She's right. Sometimes I go about my day and forget I'm just on a rock floating in space. Sometimes, I get stuck in one gear and forget to slow down. All you can do at that point is to tell yourself to look up and soak it in.

These are pelicans, very graceful flyers and hunters. It was a joy to watch them dive to catch fish.
